 Most of my friends relocating to Delray Beach from up north are pleased to know their dollar goes a lot further. All things considered it's roughly 45% less expensive to live in Delray Beach than most places in the North East.

 Hence the mass exodus from New York and New Jersey.

 Florida has no state income tax, which means Social Security retirement benefits, pension income and income from an IRA or a 401(k) are all untaxed.

 Florida has no estate or inheritance tax. Many of my friends moving from up north find this to be a real financial force multiplier
